A Little Check-up for a Big Little Girl

So here is another update, after being scolded for not updating in forever, of our sweet little 'Zanna who went for her eight week checkup a week late. She received her shots today, and Mom said she did awesome!!

Here were her stats @ 4 weeks:

Weight: 9 lbs. 13 oz.
Height: 22 1/2"

Her stats today:

Weight: 13 lbs. 2 oz. (97th percentile)
Height: 23 1/12" (90th percentile for length and head size)

Her pediatrician said she is basically the size of a 4-month old right now, but very healthy. Apparently someone took some pointers from her cousins. :)

A little reminder of when she still had her umbilical cord...with her monkey.

And a few days ago, with the monkey, trying to decide what she was going to have for dinner that night.

A few more pics for fun:

And finally, a piece I like to call, "Can't Wait to Meet the Smith's"...enjoy:

Until next time!!!

Finally An Update

Yes it has been awhile but here we have the long awaited update of the Little Lopez Girls blog.
Here we start off with our both girls enjoying a good book after coming home from the hospital.

However it looks like someone is ready to box anyone who crosses her. This will be theme throughout the blog.

After calming down in the arms of her soon to be favorite uncle, she begans to dream of a future Cowboys championship. Maybe it's the sweatshirt.

"What's up holmes? I'm just chillin' here at the crib." A month old and already taking charge.

"Hey sis I'm down here. I'm the star and not the TV"

Time for a nap and time to sport the new duds thanks to Aunt Veronica. Nice ruffles chica.

Here we have big sis getting ready for her soccer game. Looking good champ.

Of course not everyone can see the game. "Excuse me, would someone please turn me around so I can see the action..."

It was a bit chilly that day. Nothing like a little sun to warm the bones...mmmmm.

Another Sunday, another game. This time it was warm enough to leave the stroller. "Say pop, what's the score?"

"Look either you tell me what's happening, or I'm gonna let you know what the score is."

After the game it was time to go home and take a much needed nap with grandma. And get a picture of the tummy. Notice how she is throwing the hand out there trying to stop me from taking the picture, but is too tired to stop it.

"Ahhh...free and easy with just a diaper and Mom making me smile. Good times."

"Let's get something straight Uncle Mike, I call the shots. Now come over here and pick me up."

"You see that Grandma. I set him straight." How can I say no to that cute little girl.
Well that's it for now. Hopefully it won't be so long before the blog is updated again. In the words of the great Don Cornelius....

Oh Suzanna!

After a long and painful bout of contractions she finally has arrived. That's right say hello to Suzanna Pearl Lopez, or as Uncle Walter calls her "Pearly Sue".

7lbs. 9 oz. and 20.5" long born at 11:22 a.m on 1/3/2009. She is the same length as her cousin Miss Es when she was born, and exactly 6 months younger.

Here we have the happy and proud papa with his little girl.

This little girl has one great set of lungs, sorry mom and dad.

They finally moved mom and baby to a room and here we have the two enjoying a moment.

Time to pass the little one around and grandma gets to hold her first.

And then grandma gets to hold her...it's like deja vu all over again.

Finally big sis gets her chance and is very excited. Uncle Mike got to hold her too but he was the one taking pictures so there currently aren't any pics of him and his new niece. Stay tuned for further developments.

Turkey Week

That's right this is the Thanksgiving post. I have been scooped by the bean review but that will not keep me from adding to the fun. Please enjoy these wonderful pictures from our trip to Miss Es and Cinco's home for turkey and fun.

Here we have the excitement of our first plane ride. She was a bit scared when the plane was getting ready to take off but once it started all apprehension turned quickly to glee. Not even when we were landing and I claimed we were gonna crash land did that upset her. It just elicited a big smile and a hearty "alright!"

Here we are meeting our cousin Miss Es for the first time (and we are not even in St. Louis).

The following day was even more exciting as Zoey finally had her first experience with snow.

So what is the first thing you do when you go out in the snow? That's right, you make a snow angel.

Here you see a pretty innocent picture but what is actually happening is a team effort to trick Uncle Mike. First the boy distracts me with his cuteness and charm while the girl reaches down to get some snow to make a snowball to throw at me. It should be noted that this tactic worked several times.

The next morning we brought donuts to enjoy for breakfast. Someone was enjoying them more than the rest of us. Luckily Zoey was keeping a watchful eye so as not to be unwittingly pilfered by the donut crazed maniac.

Later that day we decided to go to the zoo. Yes that's right, 40 degree weather and we were not the only ones there. Here we are looking at the giraffes, oh wait that's Uncle Walter.

Here we see the great archaeologist Zoey "Poey" Lopez making her way across the rickety bridge in the Amazon rain forest.

"I just wanna say you are the best driver I've ever had. How much would it cost to retain you? I know Dad would pay."

From the zoo we headed to Chuck E. Cheese, or as the boy calls it Cookies or Cookie Keys. Here we see Zo telling him to "get on the bus Gus".

Of course you know he can't say no and gets on for fun and merriment.

Miss Es sits by watching the thinking "those two are some crraaaazzzyyy cats".

Here you have the worlds best bedtime time story reader thinking it was probably not a good idea to have him sit in her lap while she read. Of course she may also be wondering why she no longer has any feeling in her legs.

Finally it's Thanksgiving morning and we have the now joined at the hip pair enjoying the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on TV. Sorry there aren't any pictures of the meal, we were to busy eating. Mmmmmmm...turkey.

It was a glorious day for the oldest Little Lopez. A day like no other she had ever experienced. It was cold that weekend. The girls rolled to victory in their first 2 games flexing their collective muscle in order to earn the opportunity to come back on Sunday to play for soccer immortality. The game was a close one ending in a 1 all tie. It was time for a shoot-out...18 shots later the girls were crowned VICTORIOUS!!!! They would not be denied!

ALL HAIL THE CHAMPIONS!!! (BTW, if you couldn't tell it was windy that day so leave'em alone...or they will CRUSH YOU!!) :)

The Spoils of Victory!!

What do a 50 lb. 7 year-old, and her 160+ lb. dad have in common: "Me and Dad are meat-eaters, Mom!"

I taught her everything she knows!

After clutching victory from the jowls of her competitors, the Huntress is ready to enjoy the gains of her labor. Those wings never had a chance. I'm so proud of my little carnivore!!

Side note: after devouring like a dozen hawaiian wings, she had a couple of helpings of fries and 3 or 4 celery sticks for good measure.

Boo!

Well it's late October and it's time to get into the spirit of the season. And what better way to do so than carve a pumpkin with your favorite uncle. So I hope you enjoy these pics as much as I enjoyed the carving.

For starters you have to clean out the pumpkin, and it seems this a rather fun activity for both the young and not old.

Next comes the drawing of the face....

We're almost there and apparently this carving has taken on quite the serious tone. No time to mess around uncle, let's finish this bad boy. (By the way notice the large amount of seeds we were able to get for roasting...mmmmm, can't wait)

Yeah, almost done. One last step before we have our first full blown official carving.

Thats right, a little light and now we have a happy jack-o-lantern. Now that the pumpkin is ready for the event I wonder what our little headache will do the commerate the coming holiday.
Check in later and maybe we will have the answer.
